Freedom Announces Its New FreeX12 Processor Module

Ann Arbor, MI – May 2010.  Freedom Imaging Systems is pleased to announce its new FreeX12 Processor module for its widely popular Document Management suite RICAR (Record Image Capture And Retrieval).

Freedom’s new FreeX12 Processor automatically captures and introduces raw ANSI Standard X12 files and data into the RICAR server for searching, viewing, workflow and archiving and at the same time improving operational efficiencies.  The processor creates human-readable formats that are easy to find and process from any Standard ANSI X12 file.

A solution to process 835 Health Care Claim/Advice (also known as Electronic Remittance Advice or ERA) files is the introductory version of the FreeX12 Processor software offered by Freedom.  835/ERA files are provided by clearinghouses and insurance companies to medical providers in lieu of paper Explanation of Benefits (EOB).  While 835/ERA files have expedited the billing posting process for most providers, they may have complicated some of the secondary and tertiary billing tasks and complicated revenue cycle management.

The FreeX12 Processor automatically processes any raw .835/ERA file and generates human-readable images that are completely searchable at both the batch and patient/claim centric levels.  The patient/claim centric image includes glossary-specific reason/denial explanation codes pertaining to each viewed claim and both the ANSI code and descriptive explanation are displayed on every patient claim.   Since the image is patient/claim specific, redaction of other patients’ PHI (Protected Health Information) is not necessary and is print-ready for inclusion with a CMS-1500 form required for non-electronic secondary/tertiary billing. An enormous time saver for processing claims that do not automatically crossover.  The RICAR system is configurable to automatically print all required patient/claim specific records to match the order of a CMS-1500 print order.  Printing the two documents in an exact order allows billing personnel to simply staple and mail the claim.

The FreeX12 Processor includes Freedom’s workflow module – FreeWf – and the return on investment is quick and easily measured with a shortened Revenue Billing Cycle that effectively reduces Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).  FreeX12 automatically places rejections into workflow queues based on denial/reason codes to automate ‘working your denials’.  FreeX12 Processor brings denial adjudication into the 21st Century with automated and progressive routing! Claim images containing Denials are placed into rejection specific and managed queues. This provides a complete audit trail of work performed by both claim and billing staff. Billing personnel are able to view an image of the actual claim during adjudication simplifying the task.  To further simplify rectification of a rejection and assist with denial processing, all claims pertaining to a patient can be searched across all 835/ERAs in the system allowing billers to view all of that patient’s claims in the system simultaneously.

Multiple management reports are included with the system providing daily, weekly and monthly snapshots allowing billing management the opportunity to control the revenue cycle.  Actively using Freedom’s reporting module – FreeReports - billing managers have biller performance monitoring, number and type of reason codes processed and many other statistics at their finger tips.  In addition, it allows you to identify trends that are occurring, enabling a root cause analysis to ultimately prevent future denials. Work can be evenly distributed among billing staff and management can easily identify those areas requiring additional resources to ensure expedited revenue collections.  Gone are the days of printing large stacks of lists and distributing the work by hand.  Each queue can be worked by unlimited personnel and denied claims are presented to each biller utilizing a FIFO method to ensure timely filings.

Customers deploying the FreeX12 Processor should expect an immediate reduction of at least one FTE, total elimination of redacting, printing and scanning, and an improved revenue cycle management that will reduce DSOs.

In this time of heightened attention to cash flow and workflow in the revenue cycle management, let Freedom demonstrate how FreeX12 can assist with eliminating the struggle to improve the flow of information through your organization. Improve the back-end clean-up process and perfect front-end accuracy to capture payment more effectively.

All Freedom software comes with a 300-day money-back guarantee. To date, not one customer has ever exercised their right to the guarantee!

Freedom will be offering additional Insurance/Health Series FreeX12 Processor updates for processing 837, 270, 271 and other Standard ANSI X12 formats. Billers and customer service reps can search patient records and display a copy of all electronic files including the claim (837) and remittance advice (835) in a single patient view.
