Freedom Installs PROSAR-AIDA and PROKEY, OCR Data Extraction Software at Sonora Quest Laboratories to create 835/EDI from paper EOBs

Ann Arbor, MI – May 2010: Freedom Imaging Systems (Freedom) has successfully installed and placed into production Paradatec’s powerful PROSAR-AIDA and PROKEY OCR Data Extraction Software at Sonora Quest Laboratories (Sonora).

Sonora will utilize the software to capture and record scanned EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) from multiple providers, convert them to electronic 835/ERA files (Electronic Remittance Advices) for processing using their XIFIN Revenue Cycle Management software.

Sonora is a long time partner with Freedom using its RICAR electronic content management software suite processing over 100 million documents per year.  Combining PROSAR-AIDA and PROKEY with RICAR creates a perfect solution for document capturing, indexing, archiving and conversion to 835/ERA files for quick submission to the accounting software.  The process will greatly reduce revenue cycle time and days sales outstanding.

The project began with Sonora identifying sample batches of 15 major providers delivering paper EOBs to them for processing.  Once identified the batches were examined for denial/reason codes and a sample rule tree for 835/ERA conversion was created.  Using PROKEY, Sonora keyed the pertinent information and filled out the rule tree to the point where in March 2010 they began using the combined processes for 835/ERA conversion.  During April of 2010, the rule tree was fine tuned for exceptions and became fully automated in May.

Freedom became PROSAR-AIDA and PROKEY certified system integrators in August of 2009.

PROSAR-AIDA is designed with electronic content management (ECM) in mind.   It consists of two components.  The first is the PROSAR recognition program which is built from artificial neural networks. It automatically reads documents of every kind – whether they are order forms, applications, correspondence, invoices, insurance claims, mortgage documents or other structured or unstructured documents.

The AIDA analysis program, which stands for Artificial Intelligence for Document Analysis, is the second step in the process. Because of AIDA’s straightforward - hierarchical approach to data analysis, structured, semi-structured as well as completely unstructured “freeform” documents can be classified and processed.

PROKEY is a correction/verification application which provides a highly intuitive interface for image-assisted manual data entry. It is tightly integrated with PROSAR-AIDA and provides users with an interface for correction of low confidence values and broken business rules. It has been designed from an ergonomic point of view and configured for maximum data entry speed.
