Oracle Diagnostic Laboratories, a new division of Solstas Laboratory Partners, installs RICAR for laboratory billing

ANN ARBOR, MI – August 2011: Solstas Laboratory Partners, a longtime client of Freedom Imaging Systems, has expanded to acquire Oracle Laboratories of Davie, FL.  Oracle Diagnostic Labs is a full service clinical lab offering tests ranging from basic health screens and toxicology tests to genetic and DNA testing.

Solstas Laboratory Partners is one of the largest full-service labs in the nation and continues to grow rapidly.  Upon acquisition of Oracle, Solstas immediately expanded its use of Freedom’s  RICAR software suite to facilitate and integrate Oracle into the Solstas billing department.  Oracle Diagnostic Labs is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Oracle drivers pick up specimens and requisitions throughout the day.  Bar codes are created for each requisition.  After tests are performed, Oracle technicians scan requisitions which are automatically stored and indexed based upon information in their barcodes.  Images are then replicated to the billing department at Solstas headquarters in Greensboro, SC.  After replication, images are available for viewing for both Solstas billing and Oracle staff immediately using Freedom’s viewing application, FreeView.  Reference reports for tests that were sent off-site for completion are also scanned and enter FreeWf, Freedom’s workflow application.  Reference reports are then indexed by accession number by Oracle staff and sent to the Solstas billing department as well with a simple click of a button.

Solstas is also taking advantage of RICAR’s ability to import HL7 data feeds.  These data feeds  are used to match the accession number to previously scanned documents with the same barcoded accession number  and  automatically indexes them with the HL7 patient and testing information. This process is implemented in Solstas Laboratories to accelerate the billing process and subsequently for customer support.

RICAR is comprised of powerful tools that can be utilized in all areas of a business.  Solstas highlights the benefits of implementing RICAR within a billing department.  RICAR can capture any type of file via various methods of introduction.  Paper documents can be scanned using Freedom’s scanning software, FreeScan.  Electronic documents can enter the system via fax server or an import folder as well.  RICAR allows content of all types to be organized, viewed, routed, and stored in a secure and HIPAA compliant environment.

RICAR is available for installation via thick or thin client, on-premises or in the Cloud.  Freedom also provides an audit trail and various options for backup services.
