Solstas Lab Partners Grows with Acquisition of Hayes Clinical Lab of Boynton Beach, FL

Freedom continues to be one of the first vendors installing and implementing its RICAR Electronic Content Management software suite for requisition capture and billing processing.

In August, Freedom met with members of the corporate billing team from Solstas Lab Partners at their newest acquisition, Hayes Clinical Laboratory in Boynton Beach, FL. Freedom team members went on site to evaluate and consult with Solstas to integrate this new lab into their existing billing workflow schema.

Hayes Clinical Lab is a full service medical laboratory, performing tests on all body fluids. Hayes previously managed its own billing on site. The billing department recently moved to a new location, on the same site but in a separate building.

Before the installation of RICAR, billing was manually intensive. At the end of their shifts, lab technicians would collect the reqs, verify them and then put them in numerical order by accession number. Every morning and afternoon, a member of the billing department walked to the laboratory in another building to collect the requisitions ready for billing. Billing representatives would then verify and count the pile of requisitions before dividing and distributing the pile evenly amongst the staff. If a patient called and an aged requisition needed to be referenced, a billing representative would have to go back to the lab and navigate floor-to-ceiling shelves to find the requisition.

With the implementation of RICAR, billing will continue to happen in-house as well as at Solstas headquarters in Greensboro. The manual process Hayes employees went through to verify, count, and order requisitions has been eliminated. At the end of each shift, requisitions are immediately scanned and available for retrieval by accession number, based on barcode reading capabilities of Freedom?s FreeScan. Once documents are scanned, they also automatically enter into a workflow queue in FreeWf, where billing team members from Boynton Beach as well as Greensboro can access and immediately start processing.

With the installation of RICAR, Solstas employees (with the appropriate security permissions) can access these requisitions from anywhere within the organization.
